Samsung Galaxy Nexus sales ban expedited

Galaxy Nexus seems to caught a lot of attention lately because of the things happening with it. Google recently announced Jelly Bean[1] during Google I/O[2] and just a few days ago the update started seeding for the Nexus device. In the meantime, Apple obtained a temporary ban of the device[3] in the US and Samsung did managed to obtain a stay[4] which brings Galaxy Nexus back on sale. It is quite obvious that Apple wants to stop the sales of Google’s flagship smartphone.

US Court of Appeals has granted Samsung’s request to expedite its appeal of the preliminary injunction against the Galaxy Nexus. The company must file its court brief to start the process before July 16 and Apple has until July 30 to respond. It is expected that the Court will reach a decision on August 6. Apple’s response to the temporary stay of the ban will also be considered. About the temporary stay, Apple stated:

[the company's] letter shows nothing beyond the entirely predictable consequence of Samsung’s infringement â€" i.e., the infringing products must be taken off of the market. It is not a legally cognizable harm to halt downstream sales of stolen, pirated, counterfeit, or infringing products.
