Nexus 7 Tablet manufacturing cost $184

It costs $184 in parts to build the Nexus 7 Tablet

The Nexus 7[1], this year’s hot Android Tablet from Google and Asus with a very attractive low price of $199. As we’ve informed you[2], Google’s Andy Rubin said that Google simply makes no profit with the sales of this tablet ! During four months, ASUS engineers worked real hard on finding a way to put all the high-end stuff in a tablet that would retail for only $200.

Now for the interesting fact. How much does it cost to build the Nexus 7? Well, component for manufacturing the 8GB variant cost about $184. That is without covering other costs, like research and development . The 16GB variant requires an extra  NAND chip memory chip that costs 8$. We are not sure why this variant’s price is $50 higher.  And there you have it, when they said no profit they really meant it. You can preorder the device[3] from the Play Store.
