It’s great to see Live Nation arrive on Android devices, though it took a long time â€" iOS users have been enjoying it^[1] for a while. Aimed at concert goers and fans of live music in general, Live Nation lets you browse, search and discover concerts for your favorite artists near you as well as offering useful information about venues and seating.

However, the app has a few nifty tricks up its sleeve. It offers alerts on exclusive app pre-sales and last-minute tickets for certain shows. There’s also an extensive archive of live set-lists. If you’re dying to see your favorite musician, the Live Nation app could prove to be the best way to ensure you nab those tickets.

If you’re familiar with the term “citizen journalism,” you may want to add Blottr to your Android app arsenal. Blottr lets you capture and report news you witness live and upload it directly to the Blottr website^[2] instantly from your mobile Android device.

It should be noted that Blottr is based in London, and currently has more impact in the United Kingdom and throughout the rest of Europe. But perhaps with the help of this app, the company will spread its wings farther and prove Blottr’s value throughout the world.

Did you see or hear about Google’s I/O conference keynote^[3] showcasing Android 4.1 Jelly Bean a few weeks ago? One of its new features is an upgraded and deepened version of the Android notification system which offers a whole lot more information.
